The Republic of Azerbaijan is located to the south of Russia, bordering Iran. The Azerbaijani language is native to northern Iran, where it is spoken by around 23 million people. It can also be heard in Georgia, parts of southern Russia, eastern Turkey and in some areas of Armenia, in addition to the estimated 9 million native speakers in Azerbaijan itself.
Azerbaijan has a history of invasions and occupations leading to the Azerbaijani language being influenced by many different languages and dialects including Persian, Arabic, Turkish and Russian. Due to the combination of different linguistic influences, it was decided that a more simplistic and popular style was needed and it was between 1900 and 1930 that the national language became unified.
Even now, Azerbaijani is sometimes categorised as two languages, (although mutually intelligible) North and South Azerbaijani. North Azerbaijani is considered the official language of Azerbaijan with over 7 million native speakers and approximately 8 million speaking it as a second language.
Azerbaijan’s key industry sectors include petroleum and natural gas, steel, oilfield equipment, agriculture, heavy machinery and cotton.
ALM has been translating into and from Azerbaijani for its customers since 2002. Over the past few years, we have recruited some of the best native speaking Azerbaijani translators, who work in a variety of specialist fields.
ALM’s translators also have a deep understanding of Azerbaijani culture and customs, which is essential when doing business in Azerbaijan.
It has been proven that consumers and businesses prefer to buy in their own language. It is therefore a real advantage to have manuals, marketing materials and other commercial and legal documents translated into Azerbaijani.
With its industry experience, ALM can also advise you on how to get the best out of your translation budget.
ALM Translations recognises that people require translations for many different reasons. We therefore don’t take the one size fits all approach and offer three different service levels; standard translation for information, translation with secondary review, recommended for high visibility documents, and transcreation (translation and copywriting, or creative content writing from scratch).
ALM Translations also offers, ad hoc and conference interpreting, videos and voice-overs, transcription services, subtitling, telephone interpreting, telemarketing, proofreading, editing and transcreation.
Professional translation gives companies a competitive edge and helps build and maintain business relationships with overseas clients.
