Charity begins at work
Socks may not have the ‘wow’ factor as a Christmas gift, but could you imagine life without them?
Apparently, one of the least-donated items to homeless charities is socks and other underwear.
This fact got us thinking and instead of our usual Secret Santa, where we buy novelty gifts for each other that get consigned to the same drawer as Christmas cracker gifts, our teams will be giving each other (new) socks and high energy chocolates instead, which we will then donate to Sifa Fireside in Birmingham http://www.sifafireside.co.uk/ on behalf of homeless charity, Socks and Chocs http://socksandchocs.co.uk/.
In addition, for every retweet and Facebook post share, ALM Translations will donate a pair of socks, and for every 10 retweets and post shares, we’ll add some high-energy chocs.
It may be the season to be jolly, but at this time of year in particular, some of our fellow human beings will rarely feel warm, with feet that are freezing in shoes that are possibly ill-fitting and painfully uncomfortable.
It’s not an uncommon sight seeing homeless people on the streets and we may believe that as individuals, there’s nothing we can do to make a difference, but even the smallest of gestures can make a difference to someone’s life.
Please pass it on and let’s try and spread a bit of comfort this Christmas.
