PRESS RELEASE

Industry affirmation for ambitious Henley company

A forward-looking Warwickshire business with its finger on the pulse has been shortlisted for an industry award.

ALM Translations has this week been announced as a finalist in the Company of the Year category in the ATC Language Industry Awards 2018, which seek to recognise and celebrate excellence within the profession.

The 21-strong company, with its headquarters in Henley-in-Arden and offices in Birmingham and London, is a professional translation company with in-house linguists, some of the industry’s leading translators and advanced technology. It is in the midst of an exciting period of proactive growth and development.

Founding co-directors Lisa Williams and Rachel Coleman are developing a unique way of working that brings customer satisfaction to the fore and are progressing towards the ISO 17100 accreditation; the internationally recognised standard for translation services. They will open virtual offices in France and Spain next year and are building websites for these markets and America.

ALM Translations, established in 2002, grew organically until this year when Lisa and Rachel decided to harness the momentum. Rachel said: “We had always expanded naturally and at the beginning of this year realised we needed a push to ensure ALM grows in a more focused way.”

They have sought advice from business consultants and now have dedicated sales and marketing staff and have created opportunities for career progression. The duo are keeping their ears to the ground to spot trends and technological advances in their industry to ensure they stay one step ahead.

By 2021, Lisa and Rachel plan to have doubled the turnover, grown the workforce to 35 and be widely regarded as experts in providing technical translations to niche markets.

The ATC Language Industry Awards will be announced on Thursday 20th September at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff. The awards ceremony marks the start of the ATC industry summit, the theme of which is ‘The Changing Landscape: UK Language Industry 2020 and Beyond’.

Hundreds will gather for the conference between 20th and 22nd September. Delegates will hear from guest speakers including award-winning political journalist and commentator Isabel Oakeshott.
