For any organisation seeking a reliable, technology-driven translation partner, I can wholeheartedly recommend ALM Translations as a team that delivers measurable business value and consistently high standards.”
Lucca Software
.
When we first met with the team at Lucca Software, their challenges were clear. As Lucca Software grew internationally, its software localisation requirements were becoming more complex, particularly when managing translation consistency and technical terminology across multiple products.
Their manual processes, which had supported them during their initial expansion, were becoming less efficient as their operations scaled up, and they were looking to resolve issues on several fronts, including turnaround times and control of terminology.
Lucca needed someone who could offer more structure, integrate with their systems, and provide expertise and consistency to their translations.
Lucca needed a translation partner with:
- The technical know-how to handle complex software localisation requirements.
- The flexibility to tailor workflows, reporting and communication to their preferences.
- A consistent, proactive approach to quality assurance and terminology management.
ALM delivered across all three of these areas.
Why Was Lucca Looking for a New Translation Partner?
Lucca’s team were looking to improve translation quality and process consistency for managing evolving terminology across its HR solutions. With multiple languages in play and hundreds of files processed every month, the growing complexity of manual imports and exports was leading to longer delivery times and a higher risk of error.
On top of that, they were also looking to achieve consistency in terminology across their language content, particularly with technical content. Other areas for improvement included terminology gaps, version control and a need for more proactive collaboration from linguists.
What Lucca needed was a strategic language partner who could not only scale with them but work with them to recommend and implement improved ways of working.
What Did ALM Do Differently?
The first step was to assign a dedicated project management team that took the time to understand Lucca’s business, including its internal processes and expectations. We then worked with their localisation team to tailor workflows, reporting, and communication styles to match their internal setup.
We introduced structured feedback loops and assigned a dedicated Language Lead to oversee consistency and drive improvements in terminology usage across the linguist team. The Language Lead coordinated internal resources, ensuring that brand-specific language, tone, and terminology were used consistently across all markets.
We also developed a centralised repository for Lucca’s reference materials, which allowed linguists to improve translation accuracy and align outputs with internal product language.
Perhaps one of the biggest changes was the introduction of a query management system. Linguists were now able to submit queries to Lucca’s localisation team directly via ALM’s project managers. This allows for faster resolutions and fewer delays.
What Made This Solution Innovative?
Lucca had never worked with a partner who could integrate so closely with their systems. Our in-house development team built a custom integration between Lucca’s localisation platforms and our own translation tools. This automated the flow of content between systems, removed the need for manual uploads and downloads, and dramatically improved the consistency of import/export settings, which had been challenging previously.
The integration also allowed for advanced terminology management features, including translation memories, glossaries and termbases. We were able to maintain high terminology accuracy, even across large volumes of content, with minimal manual intervention.
This level of integration meant hundreds of files per month could be processed securely, quickly and consistently. It wasn’t just more efficient. It transformed and significantly improved the way localisation projects were handled.
Why Was Our Solution Beneficial to Lucca?
The results were clear:
- Significant cost savings in just 9 months.
- Dramatic time savings with delivery processes reduced from a full day to just 15 minutes.
- Fewer errors, thanks to automated workflows and more time spent on QA.
- Higher quality translations, with increased use of Lucca’s in-house preferred terminology.
- Customised workflows, designed to adapt to changes in Lucca’s tech stack.
We were also able to automate the delivery of various assets on a schedule and respond to updates in Lucca’s localisation systems, using custom solutions built by our internal technical team. That kind of agility is rare in the language services world, but it’s what makes partnerships like this work.
What Can Others Learn from Lucca’s Experience?
Lucca’s challenges are far from unique. Many companies face a similar situation. They are struggling with legacy translation problems, disconnected workflows and suppliers who aren’t equipped to scale with their needs.
What made the difference here was a shared commitment to improvement. By working closely together, we were able to streamline processes, improve output quality, and deliver measurable business value.
For any company managing complex localisation across multiple markets, the Lucca experience shows what’s possible when software localisation combines specialist language expertise, the right technology and flexible, proactive workflows.
